Gar Aero (moved from MX Library)
I was wondering if someone had a 337 for a Gar Aero install on their 170A? Either tailwheel or main wheel adapters or both? I have a set and would like to try to get a field apporoval based on the Anchorage guide lines and some other documents I have found on the internet. Also I see that someone ha...

Re: Lycoming Morning Sickness
Scarry!! This whole post has me steaming! You need an A&P with some experience to get you under control! Owners without certificates can only "Work" on their planes while under direct supervision of certified mechanics. That screw has nothing to do with take off RPM :x This Goat rope ...

Re: Lycoming Morning Sickness
Well, the engine wants to see 2700 on takeoff, going to adjust the screw on the front of the prop this weekend and see if I can get it higher, if that does not do it I will go to the governor.

Re: Lycoming Morning Sickness
I will have to check with Ken on that, I will let you know. I got my cylinders and carburetor on. While checking the dry clearance on the valves they were all in the 60's except 4, those were .078. .079, .082, .082. So I got 4 -35 pushrods (mine were all -34's), and all of the clearances came out gr...

Re: Need more parts for the plane so..................
That is a nice boat, but where is the 170 on floats? Don't even get me started on that. We have about 30 miles of shore line and not one place to keep a float plane, and amphib's are not in the budget. Speaking of float planes though, I will be adding my multi-engine ATP seaplane on in a few weeks ...

Lycoming Morning Sickness
My plane was showing signs of sticking valves, including an occasional hiccup while I was flying it. Got the fixture and performed SB 388, the infamous wobble check, basically Lycomings way of putting the burden of a poorly designed oiling system on the aircraft owners back. Decided I did not like w...

Re: $100 Hamburger SOUTHWEST (NM,CO,AZ,UT,NV,CA)
Waldo's BBQ is now open at Desert Skies FBO in Lake Havasu City, Az. Excellent smoked meats, delicious sides, and excellent ribs. I have been eating at the one in Mesa, Az for nine years. Look at WWW.waldosbbq.com. Plus the FBO where it is located has about the cheapest fuel prices around, plus they...

Re: 180 horsepower carburetor help needed
You are quite welcome, I am glad the grommets worked. That is the exact carburetor that Sac Sky Ranch said was needed, and I have the one that they say is the leaner running of the two. Thanks for the info!!

You are right George, they do mention carb air box design differences as a reason for the carb differences. I just finished reading the whole article.

Re: 180 horsepower carburetor help needed
I am assuming that they are talking about a carb that either flows more air or has bigger main jets, I compared the parts breakdown for both part number carbs, and there are differences in the metering end of things. My STC is not an Avcon and no paperwork is available for my STC (KWAD) that would l...
