I'm not sure how accessable the leak is, but Caterpillar engines has an epoxey kit they use for oil leaks at head gaskets and gear cover flanges at block. It might help to contain the leak. Just need to prepare with cleaner and then epoxey. When overhauling, reclean surfaces.

Buying 170A

If it hit a stump and damaged the gear box, you are in big time trouble. I am now looking at repair in the gear box and finding it entails much more.

Tailwheel spring

I changed to the compression and couldn't get it to release for swivel without excessive chain looseness. I went back to the tension springs.

ELEVATOR TRIM RIGGING

My trim wheel indicator doesn't travel full distance front and my chain at the screw sprocket doesn't center. The cable stops seem to be OK. My travel on the tab is 8.7 up and 24.8 down. I don't have a 100 Service manual and my 170 book section for trim is empty. Need some advice for checking setup

oi filter & dirty oil

I agree with George, change filters half way and not oil. Don't change oil and not the filter. I have much experience with extended oil changes on trucks. I would rather have good oil without the contaminants by changing more. I change at 25 hrs and still have the screens on the C-145.

Why was only one tank installed in left wing from factory? I have some ideas but thought someone might know. 48-rag - John
