Re: Cessna 170 owner once again.

After several frustrating days of poor weather conditions, and with the help of some very good friends, I finally got 21C home and in its hangar. It was a beautiful day for the trip with a tailwind that resulted in better that 170 statute mph ground speed for much of the trip, 176 mph at times. All ...

Re: Cessna 170 owner once again.

Vernon is definitely a great guy! As best as I can tell this aircraft is everything he advertised it to be, and maybe even more. Looking forward to getting it home... maybe Tuesday.

Re: Cessna 170 owner once again.

Thanks George, now if I can just get her home. The weather has just not cooperated this week, if it doesn't happen by next Wednesday it will likely be the end of January. There's not much I can do about the weather or schedules, but MAN the frustration level is building! :(

Thanks everyone for the cordial re-welcoming into the C170 community. I hope to get it home next week, Monday if the weather permits.

Re: Cessna 170 owner once again.

Thank you Mr. Horn for that information. That's the sort of thing you learn here that makes the Association an invaluable source!

I have the log books all the way back to manufacture and test flight, it would be neat to find pictures of it from back in the early days.

Re: Cessna 170 owner once again.

Thank you Mr. McIntosh, after several years of following these forums I doubt that I can add much to the wealth of knowledge that exists here but I sure enjoy learning from all of you. Hopefully week after next I can go pick her up and let the adventure begin... again.

Re: Cessna 170 owner once again.

Thanks everybody! The s/n is 26066, as best as I can determine it was one of the last ones built in 1953.

Cessna 170 owner once again.

I'm proud to say that I am once again a Cessna 170 owner. Many years ago I owned a '48 model, then a '51 A, then a 140 and now a '53 170 B. The inspection has been done, log books checked and all documentation taken care of, now it's just a matter of getting the weather and schedules to cooperate so...

Re: Medical first flights of the Cessna 170A/210 and other j

I'm told that in the good old days folks didn't always report all medications taken and conditions that they may have had. ;)

I'm guessing that with electronic medical records all the rage nowadays, that's not as good an idea as it used to be?

Re: A recent trip.

I was at Korat AB, Thailand a few years ago and there was two or three Bird Dogs there along with a 170 with a few modifications. At the time the Bird Dogs were flyable.
