my bows were rusted out so I replaced them with fibre glass fly fishing blank rods. no more rust stains on the headliner.

Bruce, please can you elaborate as I am confused . So how did you know you had L-19 wings and what fuel capacity were they. The L-19 had a 60 deg flap setting so the flap tracks were they retained or the 170b tracks in place. Another question how did your mechanic know about the different wing tips ...

The side windows can be an owner made part . The windows are normally a flat sheet of perplex but [legally???] I would use lexan. [poly carbonate ]. When measuring for the thickness ,go as thicker as you can and measure the clearance allowed between the retaining strip and the outer window structure...

I would be doing a load analysis of the electrical system and including dead battery situation. In Australia we have to have a listing of all electrical loads in our log book. I had a STC for a 100amp alternator when I put the Lycoming in originally. While it worked a treat it was a massive overkill...
