Re: tailwheel shimmy

After caster it could be because the main spindle nut is to loose. I have instructions from Scott that call for 15lbs minimum at the wheel and bracket castle nut then turn to the next cotter key hole. If caster is correct and you have the minimum torque try tightening the spindle nut one cotter key...

Re: Tail Wheel Bearing Race removal???

Success! It took a while but the cups have been liberated from the hubs! I had a double predicament as not only were the cups stuck but the spacers for the grease retainers, number 39 on fig 94 of the IPC were stuck as well. I took Indopilot's suggestion and heated the hubs in a 200F oven. I then st...

Re: Tail Wheel Bearing Race removal???

Hub is split as you said. The bearings (40/41 vs 41/42) cone half of course fell out as you said. The cup -part 41) is stuck as is the spacer, part 39. Neither half is willing to budge. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Tail Wheel Bearing Race removal???

Help! How do you remove the bearing races and spacers from inside the tail wheel halves? Gentle persuasion with a mallet and punch has not worked.

Thanks, Bruce

Re: Back Seat Attachment Question

Quick update on replacing the rear seat attach bolt nut plate. I used a AN366F-428A nut plate. I layed out the center lines on the rivets holding the doubler in place as shown in the earlier pictures. I drilled two holes an inch apart on line corresponding to the original nut plate. I then drilled t...

Re: 170A - Fuses to Circuit Breakers

I did mine last summer. I'll post the paperwork here. Someone asked and I didn'[t get back to them. I apologize. I'll have them up after TG.

Please help me find a thread! (rear seat attach)

Recently there was a thread with pictures discussing the replacement of the rear seat aft hold down bolt nut plate. I have searched but can't find the right key words. Can anyone help me locate this thread? Many thanks!

Re: Benham Exaust Availability

Yes I have Pat's number and will call, but as long as folks are lurking here maybe I can get a quick answer: do the Bartone pipes still require a field approval?

(Where is that can of worms smilie???)

Re: Benham Exaust Availability

As long as you are dreaming.... why don't you quote them at $50, installed by an adoring Morgan Fairchild during the accompanying all-expenses paid vacation on the Riviera? :P Maybe because Morgan Fairchild is old enough (almost) to be my mother? Ok she's only 13 years older but still, I think we c...

Benham Exaust Availability

Sometime in the last few days I had a dream (it must have been a dream 'cause I can't find anything now...) that I read Benham exhaust stacks were again available. I have searched the forum but can't find anything. Did anyone else share my dream? Thanks.

Re: Someone is going to be in trouble over this one!

Before we go and hang all model airplane fliers, (I said before...I didn't say anyone had) take a good look a the video. The second person in the frame is talking on a hand held and is watching the approach of the Pitts. It would appear the model folks were aware of the Pitt's approach and made no a...
