The food is best at NANCY'S at Minuteman, Stow MA. The ice cream's best at Jaffrey NH. Everyone ends up at Sanford ME, at the Cockpit Cafe. For old time flying, good food, and plenty of taildraggers, stop at Hampton NH, and meet there for the 170 fly-in in August.

In no order of preferance these are the places local to me that I feel worth while so far. And if I didnt list it I havent been there yet.

CAVU at kobelt n45, big place, open for dinners on weekdays, lunch and dinners on weekends. I have gone there on week day afternoons and found them open. Good menu selections, bring a designated pilot if you plan to drink. Bacon bluecheese buger and sweet potatoe fries "MMMMMM"

Runway cafe at Blairstown 1N7, small place great atmosphere, small menu but tasty, get there early for breakfast or lunch on the weekends or plan on eating outside. Apple pie ala mode, coconut custard pie "YEAH"

Skymanor airport, weird hours but good stuff, breakfast lunch, call before going.

Mexican food in New Hampshire

Post by N2356D »

As crazy as it may sound, try the L'il Red Baron at Parlin Field 2B3, Newport NH, for great Mexican food. The restaurant is right on the field. Parlin has a good paved runway and a turf runway. They have courtesy bicycles avaiable for the adventurous.

Saturday Feb 16th and Sunday Feb 17th are Fire & Ice festival time at Alton Bay. Land on the ice, good food, fun for the two days. This is a favorite of mine.http://www.airnav.com/airport/B18

We just tried the New Restaurant at Cambridge Maryland (CGE) at the FBO. The Food was excellent and there were lots of selections to choose from on the menu.

My wife and I went to Eckhard's at W75 (Hummel) last night. It's a great German/Italian restaurant that is right across the street from Hummel. I was able to taxi around the back of the FBO and park in the grass and keep an eye on both girls (wife and the airplane) throughout dinner!

Sky Acres (44N) LaGrangeville, NY. The Perfect Landing Cafe. Excellent food, very courteous and responsive employees. Rwy 17 is serious uphill incline. Well worth the trip.

KUNV State college, you can get the courtesy car and drive into town at Pen State. We go to the creamery for Ice Cream, they can bag ice cream for you with dry ice (quarts gallons whatever). You pay for how many hours you want it to stay cold for. I then fly creamery ice cream back for friends. (Death by chocolate mmmm)

FYI Kutztown now has large X's on the airfield! Was supposed to become a strip mall and deal fell through, now runway is closed. This was my favorite spot.

Nick's Airport Inn in Hagerstown, MD (KHGR) A bit "upscale", although the name does not suggest it. Very good. Open only for dinner, I think....

Also, as previously mentioned by another member, Kentmore airpark on Kent island, MD. Grass strip very close to but not in the "SFRA". Short walk to the marina with seafood rest. Highly Recomended!
