I just saw a menu for the new restaurant at Yuba County Airport (MYV). There has been one in the past, then out of business ... but it's now back in business. My hangar neighbor said the food is good, as soon as I get a chance to try it out I'll send back a report.

Catalina (Avalon); $100 buffalo burger plus $20 landing fee - still worth it!
Cheracco (sp?) Summit; NE of the Salton Sea off freeway 10. Excellent burgers and cool General Patton museum.
Chino; pretty good breakfast at Flo's and a great museum.
French Valley; nice newer restraunt and pretty good food.
Carona; Good fuel prices and good burgers at the East end of the field.
Hope to see you out there sometime!

KMac,

Have you heard anything about Borrego Springs lately? The last time I landed there the restaurant was being renovated. Just curious if they reopened. I will be in PSP at the Western States Association of Sheriff's Air Squadrons Fly-in hosted by PSP Aero Sqaudron in October.

I recently saw an advertisement for a grand opening of a restaurant - I think it was in the Pacific Flyer - at Borrego. I haven't been out there lately, its too hot! :D

I discovered what seesm to be a little known cafe at the Ukiah airport. I flew up to Lakeport today (Sunday) and found their restaurant closed. After a little research, I discovered Ukiah airport has a little cafe within walking distance called the Bluebird Cafe. I flew over to Ukiah made the short walk to the Bluebird and was very happy with my breakfast.

Yes, Deer Valley has a very nice restaraunt with nice menu and cozy view of the airport ops. (But the air traffic controllers have a nasty attitude at that airport. Don't even THINK about rolling off an active runway more than a foot or two without an Azz-chewing for simply rolling past the yellow-line!. I made a personal visit to the top of the tower to give them my opinion about the need to adequately clear a runway onto an empty taxiway without their "express permission."

(They have a high training activity at Deer Valley, both student pilots AND student ATC types.)

Payson, AZ has a good cafe on the flightline if you can find a seat.

Monument Valley, Gouldings Lodge Restaurant, has the best view in the west and good food.

Williams-Gateway or Phoenix Gateway.

Best burger I've ever had.

In and out in 15 minutes. Cost $10. Left food behind.

Waldo's BBQ is now open at Desert Skies FBO in Lake Havasu City, Az. Excellent smoked meats, delicious sides, and excellent ribs. I have been eating at the one in Mesa, Az for nine years. Look at WWW.waldosbbq.com. Plus the FBO where it is located has about the cheapest fuel prices around, plus they will give Cessna 170 club members .20 cents off the listed price, so todays price would be $3.60 a gallon.
