Crankshaft, bushing, propeller nut

Post by jlwild »

On my O-300 eight bolt crankshaft, one of the propeller nut bushings (Fig. 4-4 -PN 24769 Engine Service Parts Catalog) is cross threaded. I have a replacement part, but the issue is how to remove the damaged nut bushing part with the engine mounted on the plane. Looking for sage advice, from those who have successfully changed out this part, to pass on to my IA.

Not there of course and can't say I've ever done it but, I'd think you could just press it out. A socket or pipe large enough the flanged end would fit in for the nut to be pressed into and a large enough C clamp I'd think would do the trick.
