Lower Cowl Air Scoop Fit

Post by Poncho73 »

I've come to a bit of an empass on my nose bowl replacement. I need a new air filter cowl lower air scoop, they are no longer available for the 170 and 170A. Knots 2U have the 170B model fairings. They are sold by McFarlane and the like. https://www.mcfarlaneaviation.com/produ ... -16/...The 170 and 170A are part number 0552000-16, the 170B 0552001-16. The difference is the shape and length of the B compared to the 170 and A models. Does anyone have any experience in installing these Knot2U fairings and will they work on the 170 and A. I believe it will however I'm looking for input. Please keep the certification stuff off the table, just the install info would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks. That mounts on the inside of the lower cowl. It looks like I can use it on the earlier models by trimming of the lower end.

I have torn mine apart, but here are the best photos that I have. I removed the inner part of the scoop for my new airbox. The two parts are spot welded together.

Jim, I was lucky to snag that one. It's the last one in the world in that fine of condition! :D The one on my old cowl looks like it was used on a dump truck.
