I will be installing my T3 tailwheel as I think the few extra lbs. aft will help with my 0360 and 80" hartzell being heavy up front. We will be weighing and calculating a new weight and balance. I have not had any bad reviews from my friends that are using the T3 in the back country or otherwise.
Cheers

Hey, let’s try to avoid personal derogatoriness if we can… that sort of thing is buzz-kill for everyone.

As for “all the best off airport pilots I know”….. I consider myself to be one of the “Best off airport pilots”…. because when I am ON an airport I am just a taxi-driver.

Definitely can buy into justifying the weight gain for a CG correction.

Nothing derogatory meant from my side. -all in good fun and open discussion. I look forward to more pireps on the tail spring as the user base increases.

First flights with the T3, this thing is nice! Absolutely no shimmy and it feels really smooths in the tail. Really smooths out the rough ground, I am very happy with it.

What would you estimate the complete modification would cost an owner, parts and labor?

I've had mine installed for over two years now. Absolutely love it, and having gone through two annuals now, have not found any mechanical deficiencies with it. I'm running the stock Scott 3200 fork and wheel assembly. I'm not a hardcore back country guy but regularly land on uneven grass strips and a few unimproved mountain top strips. They still don't have the STC done for the 170 yet but I've heard that they're expecting it in late 2022 or early 2023. I had mine approved via field approval.

The T3 is amazing. No shimmy, no vibration, no anything. It makes you wonder if the tail is on the ground at all. I can't say enough good about it. My airplane is happy LOL

Hi George,

I am estimating about 1600.00 total.
