Hooker Shoulder belts for 170B

Post by Richgj3 »

I’m trying to understand the installation for the hooker belts. I have a request in to them. I understand the BAS installation requirements and know the advantage of inertial reel over fixed/adjustable belts. I had fixed belts in my 1958 170C (Bolen Conversion for 172) and I was fine with them.

If anyone has installed the Hooker belts could you describe the drilling requirements? My airplane has the nut plate installed from the factory.

Thanks

The STC’d Hooker Harness kit comes with detailed instructions. Basically, it involves installing a bracket onto the rear spar carry-thru at the same point as the factory anchor-nut, but instead of drilling a hole thru the top cabin skin, one rivets the bracket to the rear spar. (i’ve slept since I read the instructs but somewhere out in my hangar I’ve got those instructs and I’ll try to find them and post them.)

WHOOPS… No need… I see Bruce posted it in the Mx Library: viewtopic.php?f=41&t=9428&p=84057&hilit=Hooker#p84057

An originality nut (mostly) for the right reasons. ;)
