Hello,
I've reviewed previous posts on the subject. Can anyone advise on whether it's better/stronger/safer to jack the tail (to a level position) under the tail spring attach bolt area or the bulkhead about 18" forward of that.
I have a T3 tailwheel so I have a more room all the way aft than if I had a standard spring.
Im using a hydraulic lift table with an 8x8" block and a heavy pad.

Keith, we made a jack that works for all tailwheel aircraft.

Keith, so long as the pad is stiff enough and as wide as possible, I see no reason you couldn't safely lift under the second to the last bulkhead. Fact is more that once I lifted my 170 there using stiff wide pad known as my back, and my arms and legs my table. If i was using a hydraulic jack my prefered surface was under the tail spring bracket.

I chocked my mail wheels…and slid my motorcycle hydraulic work-table beneath the tailwheel..which rolled up the “ramp” on the m/c table…and then I used the foot-pump to raise the hydraulic table. A sack of feed or corn on top of a floor-jack beneath the tailcone also works.
