I have sent an email to Kollin Stagnito at AOPA suggesting that the removed items from the modifications be donated to TIC170A.

That was in the article:
"Hartzell will contribute an 83-inch Trailblazer constant-speed propeller to the sweepstakes project, and Stoots Aviation is providing the STC required to install both on the Cessna 170B."

A constant speed (or electrically-controlled) propeller on a C-145 / O-300 would make the airplane “jump” also…. but these engines are not currently in-production so do not attract the necessary R&R. (Our engines, using fixed-pitch props, only produce about 118 hp at takeoff if the Type Certificate specs are met…..not the 145 most people are led to believe.)

I wonder if that engine will fit in the factory cowling without blisters.

Going by the dimensions of that engine i think the blisters will be required . But it will also depend on the engine frame that is part of the STC. I had to shorten my cowls by 1.5 ins for the engine to fit . But adding the blisters was no big deal.

The guy doing the engine swap says the airplane is really nice as-is, and “I wouldn’t change it.”

Blisters are required.

The engine is essentially a Lycoming clone.

My 370 and the parts kit arrive next week!
