Hello everyone. Almost ready to assemble my 0300.
Need help finding crank bearings.?
Also anyone have link to service bulletins for 0300. ?
Any help or advice is appreciated.

The Illustrated Parts Catalog lists p/n 36170A1 for the bearing and thrust washer set. For a 0.010” undersized crank the p/n is 36170M010. These numbers are for all engines except the O-300-B/C145-2H. Table 10-28 of the Continental Maintenance Manual lists the superseding p/n to be 652152A1 for the standard set of crank bearings. I see why you decided not to purchase these bearings from Aircraft Specialties … no free shipping!

Continental Service Document Master Index. As you can see in this Master Index, many Bulletins and Service Instructions have been incorporated into the Continental Maintenance Manual referenced above. Of special interest is Table C-1, Mandatory Overhaul Replacement Parts.

Miles has an excellent article of his overhaul in the Second and Third Quarter 2006 issues of The 170 News.

Nippaero documented his overhaul here. Unfortunately, the photos have disappeared. He overhauled his engine under the watchful eye of an experienced IA. There are a lot of critical “gotchas” in an overhaul. A recent Mandatory Service Bulletin was issued by Continental because some some snap rings were installed backwards on new engines. This would be easy to do on an O-300 too. Another apparent “tribal knowledge” item is O-rings on the forward through bolts. They are not called for in the IPC. This illustration is from SIL 99-2, it’s not found in later revisions or M-0: Good luck!

Out of curiosity, I looked at the recent Continental SB soon to be an AD re the counterweight bushing retaining cover installation and snap rings. 1) I would think Bruce Fenstermacher is working unlimited OT and should support an open bar this coming convention 2) Back to topic, I don’t believe the covers are interference fit on the 0-300. For this rebuilder: do check you bushings and their dimensions in the crank and counterweight especially if this is a “ field overhaul”.

AD is suppose to be out tomorrow (2/23/23) and we have already inspected 2 engines in our shop per the SB. I've looked at both but wasn't doing the work.

Crank was done at aircraft speciaties. I will double check that SB. Thanks.
