Scott Fuel Guage Gaskets

When I was based out of Merril field Alaska the mechanic I was using told me the Scott #3175-15 gaskets for the wing root fuel guages was not available unless you purchased a replacement guage. George Horn said you could find them as a stand alone item. Anyone know where they can be found? I have a cork float that needs resealing or replacement. Will decide the course once I make the inspection. A labor intensive job but you keep the original fuel guage appearance.

Thanks, Steve Grimsley N2717D

Steve, you can buy them OR you can download the gasket template I made and easily cut your own out of locally procured gasket material.

See this thread for the template: http://www.cessna170.org/forums/viewtop ... =26&t=9013

This morning the temp was about 32F and one of my fuel gauges had some light seepage. I’ve been monitoring for a year and haven’t tried tightening the screws. Gasket age is unknown. I’m thinking about replacing the gasket. While I’m in here the float as well. I read the 2012Q2 170 News article.

Will these AN502-416-12 screws will work instead of the IPC suggested AN502-416-10. Aircraft spruce doesn’t seem to have the -10 length.

Rochester's instruction sheet 115-793 specifies a torque of 35 In. Lbs. using a crossing pattern when installing these 1/4-28 screws. I see that they also offer this gasket made from Viton, p/n 0015-0415. The C-170B IPC calls for p/n 1114-5 "shakeproof" washers under the screws. The L-19 IPC uses MS35337-44 split washers which have too large an OD to fit in the screw well.
