WTB Venturi

Postby mitchw4 » Wed Oct 14, 2020 3:52 am

Does anyone have an extra venturi kicking around? I've had 2 of them powder coated and ready for re install, but noticed they're not exactly the same. Picture below is what I'm after.

I have a couple at my hangar. Are there any particular distinguishing features on the one you are trying to match? I will see if mine look like the one in your photo.

Show us a picture of both. One might be a super venturi.

Measure it’s overall-length and post it. (Or post a pic alongside a measure.)

OK, Mitch. I’ve got two of them, in excellent condition, as removed from my airplane, bare aluminum. They adequately serviced my AN Horizon and Directional-Gyros. I replaced them when I added a second Horizon because I wanted to assure I had sufficient vacuum for a modern 3-1/8 gyro in addition to the original two gyros. Make me an offer via PM..

I have three venturis. The aluminum one on the left is engraved Super Venturi, Richter Aero Equipment, Essex NY USA.
The one in the middle in the photo looks most like the one in your photo. Same length and data tag by appearances. The black one on the right in the photo is slightly different and the cone is made of ferrous metal. It has a tag marked Type B-4.
And was made by The National Colortype Co Bellvue KY. Interesting bit of WWII history I would guess.
I do not anticipate needing any of these, so anyone who would like one, or all of them, just let me know. An appropriate donation to the 170 Association, and maybe a little something for postage, and I will be happy.
Bill
Sorry, the photo inverted. But the one in the middle is still in the middle!

The two black venturi's from the picture I posted will soon be flying on 170's again. I am happy about that. The aluminum "Super Venturi" is still available if anyone needs it.
