Breakfast at Uvalde, Texas

Post by hilltop170 »

Thanks goes to Ken Peck, Texas Rep, who looked forward a few days and saw the weather was going to be excellent today. Ken sent out a quick email to let Texas folks know he was going to fly to Uvalde and have breakfast at the Hangar 6 Cafe, https://hangar6aircafe.com/, this morning.

Uvalde was a WWII pilot training field and there is a lot of history there. The cafe takes advantage of the history. There are vintage aviation pictures and posters all around and the menu is a “logbook” with stories about the history of the field. The menu entrees have era-appropriate names.

Six planes with six pilots converged at Uvalde, 2 C-170s, C-140, C-150, C-172, and C-182. We had a great breakfast and lots of varied conversations. James and Larry had to leave early so they are missing from the picture.

Richard, I have to wonder what you folks had to drink for breakfast after looking at that last photo

Too much coffee, Frank. :D Plus it was such a nice day we couldn't stop smiling. Actually we were laughing at my attempts to get a good selfie with all of us in it.

They sell beer at Hangar 6 Cafe but it was waaaay too early for that and none of us had a designated pilot.
