TX C170 Fly-in April 2nd, 2022, Bar VK

Post by c170ken »

Nancy and Karl Towle would like to invite all our TIC170A friends to join us on April 2, 2022, at our home on the Bar VK Air Ranch (TX32) for a lunch fly-in. Instructions for arriving by air, or land can be downloaded here: https://app.box.com/s/flezeixz44w0xiio91eumj3aqix501sb We will load into vehicles and drive about 6 miles to Babe's Chicken House in Sanger. https://www.babeschicken.com/our-kitchens/sanger/
So far, to our knowledge, nobody has left this restaurant hungry or dissatisfied.

You're welcome to arrive as early as you want, but let's have everyone gathered ready to load up and go by 11 am. This restaurant gets crowded, and we need to be early if we want to be seated together in their group room.

Please note that we also have a wet runway contingency plan which would shift our fly-in to Denton (DTO) with its concrete runway and paved parking. The above instructions contain a link to check on Friday morning to determine if we need to invoke the wet runway plan. Pray for good weather, and we look forward to seeing everyone here.

If you have questions please contact Karl Towle karljiml@gmail.com or 817-992-5281

Here's a pic of last year's gathering. If the weather cooperates, we'd sure love to meet or exceed this wonderful turn-out. Please note that other aircraft types are welcome. Fly whatcha got, and come on out for a great visit, and tasty lunch!

With weather as ideal as anyone could possibly ask for, 14 TIC170A members gathered in Karl & Nancy's back yard with 7 C170 airplanes for a most enjoyable fly-in. We loaded up and headed for the thriving metropolis of Sanger, Texas, for a delicious lunch at Babes Chicken Dinner House. They never fail to please, and everyone had a great lunch. We then drove back to the "ranch," to chat and talk airplanes. New member Charlie Ross showed up with his recent acquisition: a really nice Lycoming powered C170B, and is enjoying its significantly more thrifty fuel flow, compared to the Helio Courier he just sold. It also looks like neighbor Dooley Rucker will see his recently sold C170A (also Lycoming powered) go to Montana this week. After 30 years, he's sure to miss it.
