Richard, I am pretty sure Doc Brown used that tool during construction of the first DeLorean to help generate and contain 1.21 gigawatts. Thanks! All good guesses........ It does look like an aligning tool but for what? daedaluscan- Looks like a step ladder aligning tool to me. Used in the sport of precision stepladdering.
Vertical- Yep..for joining ladder sections of the multi function types like gorilla and little giant...
