Does anyone know what this tool is? It was found in the radio shop dumpster by the radio shop owner. It is precision-made and obviously specifically made for something but no one has recognized it so far. Maybe a measuring tool of some sort?

Any ideas?

Does it appear to be of hardened metal? Could it be a jig for drilling two holes?

Looks like a step ladder aligning tool to me. Used in the sport of precision stepladdering.

Richard, I am pretty sure Doc Brown used that tool during construction of the first DeLorean to help generate and contain 1.21 gigawatts. You better hang on to it in case you someday decide to add more power to your 170.

Thanks! All good guesses........ It does look like an aligning tool but for what? It looks like cad plated steel but those pop rivets holding the pieces together don't look the part for handling much stress.
