Will there be a 170 forum this year at Airventure? If so what is the time and location?

Slightly OT but reading the EAA news this morning focused on the violent weather that passed through Oshkosh yesterday evening. Hope our 170 gang that were there didn't sustain damage or injuries in that event. The local news in the town's storm damage wasn't as bad as further south. Does anyone have an idea of how many 170s are in attendance? As an aside there were 117 pilots of 'bonanza' type planes at the Lacrosse airport were preparing to 'storm' Oshkosh yesterday afternoon. They were taking off in groups of 3 and forming up to overfly Whitman Field. Not sure how that turned out due to impending weather. Y'all fly safe.

Survived, two storms came through, first probably hit around 1630. Light standard along the west side of 28-36 about 600
metres away from me, got hit by a big bolt, had a wisp of smoke afterwards, just about the type tent area. Kind of makes you think about having thick soles. The storm lasted till about 2000 and most tents that were blown down or apart occurred during that storm. Second hit about 0100 ish and lasted to about 0330. Lots of water in the tent but it pays to have several mattresses, got wet but managed to fall back asleep once the banging stopped.
Hope others faired well. It was an excellent Mother Nature light show. This morning everyone is upbeat, heck the storms had real potential to do damage.
Lots of 170’s here but as usual spread out everywhere.

There were 50 170's registered and on the field this year. One won an award but I didn't record the tail number.

Always great to see you Jim and have a safe trip home. Next year (2023) we plan to have over 100 170's parking together for the "Cessna 170 Vintage Reunion" celebrating 75 years. See you there.

Is there anywhere to register or sign up for next year? I’m definitely planning on attending and know a few others who will too.

About 12 years ago at Oshkosh a massive storm came through. There was a evacuation given over the loud speaker system . we had been carrying our plastic honchos and fitted them as.we had been carrying them around for the last 4 days due to massive rain periods . i wasn’t that concerned and thought it was another rain shower and we started to walk towards the car park some distance away. Then i could see a line of destruction coming with a wall of rain and hail some bits of tents and aircraft . There was a row of portable toilets about 15 in a row just in front of us and many people were diving into them as protection. my wife and myself then used a very large tree for protection. i could see out of the corner of my eye this row of 15 toilets all of a sudden slowly get blown over with the entry doors facing down . Toilets were on this platforms and that had been pegged into the ground but the ground was just mud. People couldn’t get out and a lot of yelling and harsh words were being said . a couple of people rushed in after the wind/rain/hail had passed but it required a crane to lift the toilets back on their platform. It appears that the tanks of the toilets were very full also .a couple people kicked out the roof of couple of toilets . They emerged very unhappy and smelly. [and wet] .Not from the rain.
