Shipping to Germany

We have a member who needs a 20A generator. I have offered to give him a USED one I have for the price of shipping…but UPS will only accept it as an “express” shipment…costing $738.

Anyone have any ideas or alternate methods of getting this thing to Dresden?

AeroTech of Louisville will ship an OVERHAULED unit for $435 plus freight…(unknown freight charge)…and I’ve recommended that.

Anyone have a way to get something to Dresden?

Have you tried the US Postal Service? A few years ago, I needed to ship an Aeronca Chief door to a foreign country and to my surprise the USPS turned out to be the best and cheapest method.

Second Gene's recommendation, I have found the USPS to be the most reasonable for international shipping.

The recipient requested UPS after I asked method. I’ll look into others. When not in a hurry… I have had some fairly large items sent to me via ordinary Parcel Post and the cost was surprisingly low and the speed just as surprisingly reasonable. Thanks for the reminder.

Last year I purchased a full set of fabric covers for my glider from Germany, which likely weighed as much/ more than a generator, in a much larger box.

The shipping charge was around $130 and they used DHL.

Very hard to beat USPS.

I plugged in a sample address in Dresden DE. Selected 25lb, $1 value and selected gift as you are giving it to them. $149 use your own box. 6-10 business days.
50 lb was $249.

Just a follow-up….the generator was shipped USPS for $93.
