Serial number vs Year of Mfgr.
If you've been reading the forums lately you've probably seen my postings with numbers per year of aircraft still in the registry. We know that the year the FAA assigns the aircraft is not necessarily the year or model year of manufacturer.
So for my research I used the serial numbers and model years outlined in the TIC170A "The Cessna 170, Timeless Classic" 4th edition. but these numbers are flawed in that there is no numbers for 1949.
In order to try to make sense of this I'm taking a pole of aircraft to try to determine what serial numbers actually go with what model years.
So please post your aircraft N#, Serial#, Mfgr model year you think it is. See my example in the next post.
Thanks

Hey guys thanks but I realized I have all your info in my database. So this thread is a mute thread.
I've looked at a lot of data and want to research the parts manuals looking for clues as to what serial numbers where actually the break between models and years. Some will be easy others we may never know.
I'll post my findings when I'm through investigating.

Howdy Bruce & all,
I had a little chuckle reading this thread....It seems, Bruce, that you transposed the last two digits of your "N" number in your second post.. I so enjoy your posts that it "stood out like rat sign in a sugar bowl"....To all that read this, I had the great opportunity to meet and make many new friends at the mid-year meeting in ABQ. Take Bruce as an example: Bruce has a high stress job flying EMS, Family responsibilities and probably very little personal time....and yet he makes the time to contribute/work for the best interests of all the members....We are all very fortunate to have many members just like Bruce.....I Thank them all !!!!

Thanks Richard it was good to meet you though we didn't have much time to visit.
Stress is a relative thing and I suppose there is a few moments of stress with m job but I never feel that way, I see it as a challenge. There are hours and hours or boredom associated with the job as well and it is that time enjoyed with these types of projects.
The association takes lots of volunteer time from many people. Something to keep in mind when things like photo galleries and Flypaper/170News stories don't seem to get done in a timely manner.
