I am in the SF Bay Area, based at Livermore Airport. I teach in tailwheel aircraft almost daily, including the Cessna 140 and Aeronca Champ. I own a Cessna 170a in which I would also teach if the insurance company allowed. I have over 2500 hours instruction experience and 1200+ hours in tailwheel aircraft.

Ask AVEMCO about their "limited commercial" option. It lets me add a student as a named pilot at any time, for 30 days minimum. Additional cost ranges from zero for a high-time pilot with TW time to $140/month for a zero-time primary student. I just pass those costs on to the student, which gives them an incentive to fly frequently. After 30 days you can delete the student from your policy at any time, and the charge is prorated.

I'm looking for someplace to get a tailwheel endorsement. I live in Turlock, CA (about an hour and a half south of Sacramento).

We have among us (in S50 -Auburn, outside of Seattle) a member of the Minnesota Aviation Hall of Fame : Anders Christenson. He has about +/- a jillion hours, in 170s, 180 and all the good stuff. He has promised that once I get 5448C back in the air he'll give me a taste of real instruction. I can't wait. If anyone wishes to contact him, drop me a line. If al lgoes well, in the distant future, I can add my name to the list of CFIs. We'll see.

I saw this post on the J-3 site. Called Dennis and drove from WV to inland from Saint Augustine. Spent 6 days flying with Dennis. Got current and tail wheel endorsement flying his J-3 cub. Great host/pilot and a great mini-vacation. I took naps between flights.

Tail wheel instruction offered in my 1946 J3 Beautiful Florida St. Augustine area 13FA. 45 year pilot with 39 years instruction record...
