That is one of the most unusual custom paint schemes I’ve ever seen on a 170. WELCOME! (our son just returned from Brazil, having spent a couple weeks vacationing.)

Going through my photo album, I ran across these pictures from January 17, 2022, on the ramp at Llano, TX and a beautiful sunset flight back to Fredericksburg, after a delicious meal at Cooper’s Bar-B-Que and ice cream on the courthouse square.

p.s. That DC-7B in the picture above was at Oshkosh in 2010, I believe. I bought a tour of the interior to help them raise money for its O&M expenses. Best money I spent at OSH that year. The interior and cockpit was still all original and everything worked, awesome! And in the rear, the spherical aft pressure bulkhead made a perfect lounge area. Beautiful airplane, inside and out.

Found a picture of my 58 172 with the Bolen TW conversion. I owned this from 1985 to 1992. Love the look of a straight tail with this conversion.

We all love our mistresses (airplanes). This is one of my favorite photos of mine. (This was taken by another Member during the Kelowna Convention Fly-Out over Lake Okanagan, B.C. without my knowledge and emailed to me. In my right seat was Buddy McGown and in the backseat was Solomon Bruck.)

I recently finished some work (overhauled alternator, new mufflers, new Mueller Exhaust STC, etc…) and had a chance to fly the 170 to work, so…why not? The FBO that houses the jet I fly was nice enough to let me park her in a nearby hangar during my trip. I love the contrast of the sleek, powerful jets next to the timeless beauty and class of the 170.

A 170 adds a touch of class to any hangar!
