Thank You for the very nice comments. I really apperciate them. I would also like to send a special thank you to George and Nancy Hamm who opened up their hanagar for the party. Nancy worked her magic and took some beautifull photo's of the airplane. Thanks Nancy! The one who really made this all possible is Brent Bitikofer. Brent owns and operates Sun Aviation in Gardner, KS. K34 Brent overhauled the engine and painted the trim stripes on the airplane. Thank you Brent for and oustanding job.

Now how are we supposed to admire Brents work without some pictures of the engine? Seriously, that is jaw-dropping beautiful.

That's what you see - the original colors. The Continental Gold didn't appear until the 1960s.

That's the 170 of my dreams, right there...It would look great in my hangarwith my turquoise 1964 Studebaker Avanti under the wing!

Rusty's plane was really nice before he did all this work on it. It would likely have gotten a Peoples Choice award before all his work. Everyone should have a chance to see it now. I am looking forward to seeing it in the flesh myself now that its finished. Rusty, it may be too nice to fly now. Seriously, congrats on a beautiful 170 :!:

Rusty,
Wow again for very nice engine compartment to go with the great exterior.

I had an expensive lesson when the rear baffle on my airplane broke and moved back allowing the cooling air to escape and not pass over the number 3 cylinder overheating the cylinder and seizing the piston rings. I notice that your engine baffling is missing the same rear baffle supports that mine was when I had the mentioned problem. The baffle I am referring to is IPC page 92 item number 28.

Thanks for the heads up John, now I need to check the 172 and make sure those are installed.

Rusty, that gauge marked "vacuum" has to be manifold pressure, correct? I don't see a venturi on your airplane.

Congratulations Rusty! A well deserved award. I knew once you allowed your 170 to be judged that it would be a winner. Hopefully you can bring it to the 2019 convention in Newton. KS.
