Re: New Owner
John, welcome to the 170 association. May you have a long and enjoyable time with your new plane. Hopefully you will have some opportunities to make some 170 fly ins in TX or NM. 170 members are outgoing, family type folks and will make you feel at home. The association can be a big asset when it comes to keeping that 170 flying. Been a long time since I flew into Gaines County airport. Was on my way from Fort Worth to Seattle. Boy does time pass in a hurry!

Seminole, TX...WATERMELON CAPITAL OF THE WORLD!
(Also the coldest place ever recorded in Texas at -23 F in 1933.) The guy I pictured asleep in the cockpit was born in Seminole (as was Tanya Tucker and Larry Gatlin.)

John,
Great looking airplane!! I can only imagine the performance with that engine and those tires! I'm sure you're going to enjoy the hell out of it with your son. I like the A on the tail.....any idea the significance of it?
Welcome! Mike

I may be able to go, that's just the kind of adventure we are looking for, thanks for the invitec170b53 wrote:Welcome to the association, John. Hope you new ride treats you and your family well.
Aside from guessing at the secret handshake, posting pictures is probably the hardest feat new members are faced with. Then again new members are sometimes subjected to the constant nagging of some within the club to participate in a club convention. Personally I believe the practice borders on outright ill timed coercion especially seeing as you just joined and the convention is in 3 weeks time.
So can you come?

Re: New Owner
My Dad owned N3110L from the early 90's till 2008. I've got some dual in my logbook in her, and some time not in my logbook. Dad lived in Florida, and after I moved from Mississippi to California I didn't get back often enough to finish the rating. Recently I had wondered where she ended up and found her in the FAA registry, which is how I knew she was in Seminole. Dad bought her from a corporation in El Paso, so she's back closer to home. I have some 170 friends in the Roswell, NM area, so I'll have to stop in sometime on my way east and say "hi".pilotjkl wrote:Ah N3110L my favorite 310! My first 500hrs twin time where in her, we overhauled the 300hp io-520s and added a garmin stack, 192KTAS ON 27gph! Belongs to my hanger nabor now, was she yours in the past?

Re: New Owner
I just powdercoated my yokes and went with MS27039-4-23 screws with AN 960-416L washers and AN364-428A (low profile) nuts. The screws are the same diameter and thread as an AN4 bolt but I think look better for the application.

Very nice, Rob. Are you back in the air yet? I've been keeping up with your progress over on BCP. Airplane looks great!robw56 wrote:I just powdercoated my yokes and went with MS27039-4-23 screws with AN 960-416L washers and AN364-428A (low profile) nuts. Thanks Ryan. I'm not back in the air yet but I'm very close. I'm hoping to be done by the end of the month.
Re: New Owner
That's how mine are done as well, except used "C" (stainless) hardware.

Re: New Owner
I like it looks like there are plenty of options besides the $55 rivet, thanks for the info, the decal on the yoke really finishes it offRyan Smith wrote:Very nice, Rob. Are you back in the air yet? Re: New Owner
I had a local graphics shop make the vinyl decals for the yoke. I have the same decals only much larger for the tail. I gave them a picture and told them to scale it to 1'' high for the yokes and it turned out perfect. I also had them make a new baggage placard, 2'' N numbers for the tail, N number for the panel, and serial number decal for the aft left side of the fuselage. They did great work and It was only $50 for everything.
Re: New Owner
How did mount/route wiring for your push to talk? That's another project on the to do list.robw56 wrote:I just powdercoated my yokes and went with MS27039-4-23 screws with AN 960-416L washers and AN364-428A (low profile) nuts.
