Wheel pants ?

Post by Farnold »

Are the 170 wheel pants the same as for the 120/140?
It seems like I had read where the 120/140 assoc had managed to have Cessna make up a few sets a while back.
Thanks for the response.

I don't have any data for 120/140 wheel pants to confirm whether they are identical or not. Also, I do not know about the 120/140 Assoc.
OUR Associaiton, The Int'l Cessna 170 Association, DID contract with Cessna in the late 90's to produce a quantity of new production wheel pants through the efforts of Tom Hall, my Parts/Mx predecessor.

wheel pants

Thanks for the correction.
I wonder what the interest would be in attempting to have Cessna make them up again. I'm sure the price will be much higher. New pants would be something.
I was watching a pair of 120/140 pants go on E-bay for $585 several days ago. Not too bad of shape by the photos. No needed hardware though.
I did see where someone is working on the STC for carbon fiber pants on a previous message on the 170 site (or perhaps the 120/140 site) See:

Don't care to know much about wheel pants, however there is a set in my FBO's shop. Look new, with $350 written on the side. One of the mechs told me they're for 172's. If 170's are the same, I could check to see if that $350 is for 2004.

Spruce (or somebody) sells fiberglas reproduction pants. In fact,I think Joe (of camera-port fame) had a set of them for sale at the McMinnville fly-in last summer. Don't know if he got them sold or not.
