Ragwing vent tubes.

Need some info on the wingroot vents on a ragwing 170. Apparently they are different than the later model single Cessna's. I have the elbow that makes the turn from the opening in the wing but nothing else. What do I need to get from there to the cabin? I can't find drawings or pictures or anything. Any help in finding the right parts to finish my installation?

The outer tube slip into the elbow. I believe the outer tube is the same on all models however the inner tube, the part you slide in and out, is capped differently (better) with more parts in '52 and later 170s. This thread has pictures of the two tube differences though in the pictures, I made the caps to upgrade my earlier tubes.

Thanks, Bruce. That makes sense. I have the two inner tubes. The ones that slide in and out. I need a pair of the other tubes. The ones that fit into the elbows. Anyone have a pair or at least an idea how to make them?

Google Cessna 172 cabin vent tube. You will be surprised.

You might try calling some of the salvage yards listed in the Mx Library section. Or google the part numbers you need: 0413163-8 for the left assembly and 0413163-9 for the right assembly.

I just got a price from White Industries for just the tube from the elbow to the cabin. The inner tube not included because I already have those.

$175.00! Each! $350 total! Availability wise, they are a dime a dozen, but those dimes sure are expensive.

I might just have to bite the bullet.

Greg, ... used ones are available all over the internet and auction sites, etc., for very reasonable prices. I may even have a pair you can have if you can wait a couple weeks until I get home, and if you'll remind me.

Those WERE used from White Industries in Bates City, MO.

I ended up getting a pair from Dawson in Arkansas. $50 for one and $75 for the other. They said they were about to significantly increase the price on them. Sigh.
