Mr. 284,
Please dont take me too seriously. I simply speak from the position of a guy that spent a helluva lot of time and money accomplishing an engine conversion to a TCM IO-360. I loved mine too.

Mr.284-
As a personal good friend and fellow TIC170A member, Blueldr's honest and entertaining opinions are greatly appreciated by the vast majority of the membership and come from his personal flying experiences dating back to the 1940s. His heart-felt comments have never been known to be malicious toward any individual and I hope you don't take any of his comments wrong, he speaks what he thinks and we all look forward to what might come out next. I hope I will still be able to think as well as Blueldr when I am 93 years old!

Back in the 1970s I wanted a Lyc 180hp conversion on my 170A so bad I could taste it but didn't have the $10,000 it would take to make the conversion. Congratulations to you for getting your airplane back in the air. It is always good to see these airplanes saved, repaired, taken care of, and used like they were designed to be used. Good for you.

You know, It's really amazing the number of people that haven't the slightest clue about the cost of an engine conversion on a C-170. I firmly believe that it is always cheaper to buy a convert than to do one, even if the labor is all your own, as was mine. You have to be able to get your jollys out of a lot of hard work
to make it pay. The end result, if the job is properly dcne, is worth all the grief and tears.

Date night so I took Becky to one of our favorite places - the Cottage cafe in Amboy MN.

All around great night! Got to put another hour on my new cylinders, had a nice meal with wonderful desert, flew in cool 50 degree smooth air and got to catch up with the always pleasant member Mr. Wayne Eberhart!

Thanks for letting us use your courtesy pick up, Wayne!

Every airport should have a self propelled control tower!

And now that I've seen this gas powered picnic table driven with hydraulics, I want to build one!

I'm new to the 170 Association. Bought my 170b March 2015.
I'm also a member of South Dakota Pilot Association and I'm flying SD(74 Airports). These photo's are near Mitchell, SD, had to stop off at a friends house for lunch on my way home one hot day this summer.
This is an excellent airplane for landing nearly anywhere.

Hello All.
I had N2765D which became ZS-PVR in South Africa, and I have a few pictures of my adventures in the nearly 550 hours I flew her.
Any chance of explaining how to load pics, please?

Kind regards
Reid

Reid,

I'd be very interested in the high-res images that you mentioned in the other thread. If you care to send them to me, I will upload them for you. The process to upload is pretty straightforward, provided the images are within the size limits - which tends to be a point of contention for some.

My email address is november two two five six delta (at) gmail (dot) com - the address reads as an 'N' number is displayed on the side of an aircraft.

Reid, you must be a member of The International Cessna 170 Association AND have your forum account upgraded to reflect that, in order to post pictures directly to the site. Your forum account indicates you are not a member of the Association.
CAUTION - My forum posts may be worth what you paid for them!

Arash-
Excellent example of the utility of these airplanes. I hope you brought your wing and engine covers and have an engine pre-heater for the flight home. What would the drive take if you went by car, 4 or 5 hours? Not to mention all the associated road anxiety versus an hour long relaxing beautiful enjoyable flight. No comparison in my book!
