170A door latch

Post by jonathoncopland »

Good Evening all,
Hope everyone is happy and healthy going into this thanksgiving week. I have a question regarding door roller latch springs. I have a 1951 170A and have sticky latches that I believe are beyond lube and could use a rebuild with new springs. Also anyone have idea where I can find a knob for the right side door lock P/N: 0411092. ?

Thanks for any insight!

I bought one on eBay a couple months ago for less than $10. I don’t see any more there now, though. If you search eBay for that number you can get one as part of a lock assembly, but that would be pricey.

Looks like that number was superseded by 0713303-2. AirPowerinc.com has some for $42. KRN.com has some, but you have to request a price..

If your latches are stock, meaning they had no extra springs added over the years, there is only 1 spring. 170B models at some point had a second spring added to hold the door handle tight to the door. If your A had a B model latch installed, then you will find 2 springs.

I manufacture both original springs. And as others will no doubt suggest, over the years springs found at ACE hardware and other places can and have been successfully used to make the latches work better. We have a thread on just that. I have done the ACE spring route and they can work but find the original work pretty well when they aren't broke.
