Stratux ADS-B

Post by 170C »

My unit quit working so I purchased a new SD card and replaced the old one. The new one gave me a website to go to for installation instructions. One of those hppt sites which, for me, rarely work--won't open. Anyone happen to have a suggestion how I might correct this?

Hi,

I am not a technical whiz but that seems like a bad link. I found this link on their website to a youtube video titled "How to Reflash Stratux ADS-B Software on MicroSD card" if it helps...

I watched some utube videos also. I chose not to attempt to reflash the old sd card and purchased a new one instead thinking it wouldn’t need reflashing. Getting a new card was even an option to reflashing the old one.(Don’t know what reflashing is — maybe like rebooting?)

Hey Frank
We used to "flash" the generators on the DC-3 when they didn't behave by shorting a hot wire across the bus. Maybe it's something like that? Don't know but it always made lots of sparks!

Don’t take this the wrong way Frank, but the surest way to fix it is to replace everything downstream of the power outlet with a Stratus. The reliability is well worth the extra cost, IMHO...

Frank, “Flashing” was the FIRST time they talked to you.... and “RE-Flashing” is like the second time the cops talked to you down at the ladies gym.

Thanks for the suggestions. Flashing might be like flashing an old type voltage regulator? I'll consult my friend who helps me with vrs aircraft/automotive, etc projects. If unsuccessful I may op for the Sentry Mini unit. Its small, reasonably inexpensive ($300) and does what I need.

Reflashing means reprogramming. It's called "flashing" because the card uses a solid state memory type called "flash". The card contains the program that the Stratux computer runs. Think of it as the disk drive for the computer. If you bought a new card from Stratux then it's already programmed and reflashing it would replace whatever's on it. Or you could reflash the old card with the latest Stratux firmware. That would give you a clean start too, but wouldn't repair bad memory cells in the old card.

This is the SD card with the new software already loaded, just swap out your old SD card and power it up.
