SID Inspections
Greetings from South Africa
Just to give you guys some context, our Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA), in their infinite wisdom, have determined that SID inspections are mandatory for all ZS-Registered Cessnas. I am currently trying to build an SID status report for a 1950 C170A that will be arriving for the first time at our workshop in the new year. I have the logbooks, and an initial SID inspection was carried out. I see an excerpt from a manual, last revised in 2012, relating to C120/140/170/190 and 195, but there is no manual number. I have a paid membership with Textron Aviation, but I can only get my hands on manual D138, which focuses on 1953 and up tricycle variants, as well as C180, but not the C170/A/B. I have asked around only to be told the manual in question has been discontinued.
My problem now is that I can't get the subject descriptions I need out of the old manual for the SID inspection numbers already carried out on the aircraft. I need these because I have been instructed by SACAA to build the report using D138 and correlate or supersede the old numbers with the inspection numbers in D138.
Would any of you be able to point me to the original manual so that I can get this aircraft back in the sky?
As it stands now, the aircraft will be grounded due to a discontinued manual which, in my opinion, is a damn travesty.
Best Regards,
Phil

Re: SID Inspections
Phil, I have an electronic (PDF) copy of the manual I think you are looking for: Cessna MODELS 120/140/170/190/195 Supplemental Inspection Document. No document/manual number on it, but it's dated Aug 1/2012. Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be in our MX Library and the file is too big for me to upload it to the library. I'll email it to Bruce and perhaps he can upload it to the MX Library so you can download it.

Re: SID Inspections
Phil, as Gary has linked to it, the SID manual is in our library. Unfortunately, it is in our members only area. Perhaps you or the aircraft owner should become a TIC170A member ( https://cessna170.org/members/ ) giving you access to the file and many others you might need.

I'm not sure how I missed it when looking in the MX Library. It's marked plain as day. Thanks Gary for pointing Phil (and me) in the right direction.

Re: SID Inspections
Glad to help. Thanks to you and Bruce for the recent Service and Parts Catalog/Manual added to the library. That’s a valuable addition as the B model was developed from the C-305/L-19.

I have signed up and paid the annual subscription fee, but am unable to access the link you provided. I can go to the members area in the website and am able to find POH and owners' manuals, but nothing relating to the manual mentioned.
Am I doing something wrong?

Phil: The webmasters will have to manually grant you access to the Members Only section. It is a separate function from the Assoc. webpage.

Sorted!
I cannot thank you all enough for this information
You have saved me from a world of pain and the aircraft owner from forking out a lot of money.
Much appreciated!
