170’s at Airventure 2021
I had a good trip to Oshkosh to Airventure this year. My wife and I flew in early on Monday and left Wednesday after lunch (and before the storm). Below are pictures of all the 170’s I saw on those three days. I didn’t make it to the North 40 or South 40 so I’m sure I missed quite a few. I think I have pictures of 29, including mine..
Enjoy,
Doug

The owner of this 170 on floats purchased the plane only 3 weeks ago. He is from Penn Yann, NY. He learned about this years TIC170A convention at Oshkosh so we have another local while we are there.

This straight 170 was featured at the Vintage area as part of a Ladies Love Taildraggers focus on Wednesday.

This 170 with 180 hp was part of the evening STOL demos at the ultralight field.
This 170 owner was selling 3D printed headset controller mounts for many brands.

Thanks for the pics Doug!! Having 170 pics really helps with my virtual Oshkosh experience

Doug,
Thanks for the pics.
I did see your nice 170 and in the Vintage area all the way to the South end I estimated 40 170s.
We hit a new high of 1240 airplanes in Vintage by Wednesday morning.
It was good to see several friends there and we (VAA) are planning 170 group parking in 2023 for the 75th anniversary. More info to follow.

Re: 170’s at Airventure 2021
The white/blue ragwing with the dorsal fin, N2524V, was parked right behind the airplane next to me. I thought it looked familiar, but couldn’t quite place it, and didn’t recognize the name on the prop card. After about an hour it occurred to me that it used to belong to a friend in California we lost to cancer about a year and a half ago. Steve McGreevy did a quick internet check and it indeed was that airplane. The previous owner was the last person to do an annual inspection on 98C and the last person to give me a flight review in 98C before the nastiness at Creve Coeur. I had a nice chat later with the current owner, and it seems he is really enjoying the plane and has done quite a bit of flying in it. It occurred to me how small a world aviation is for airplanes with that close of a prior connection now separated by nearly 2000 miles to end up within 50 feet of each other at Oshkosh!

Re: 170’s at Airventure 2021
My aircraft was the 6th one shown red and white. Spent 2 nights holding my tent up while the lines of TRW’s passed through on Monday and Wednesday nights, but didn’t get wet!
On Wednesday guys I met at Sun and Fun showed up with their 48 rag wing and were was able to park next door when other 170 left because of weather ( fortunately no hail) and other commitments.
Good time was had by all!
Runway 36 was a great night time spot!
