Is someone aware of a new replacement for part number 0713029 for my 170b? It would be great to have something that fits the existing hole(s) in the door post.
I’m tempted to expand the hole to round and throw in a simple toggle switch..unless there is a known replacement that’s not a 60 year old piece of junk?

Re: Replacement map light switch
The 1975-86 C-172 IPC shows that switch to be p/n S1501-1. I have no idea if the mount spacing on that switch matches p/n 0713029. Be careful substituting parts - even parts as simple as toggle switches - without first considering possible unintended consequences. An AD came out in 1980 because of chaffing between a Cessna map light switch and a fuel line. I could see how this might be an issue on the '48 C-170 which has a fuel line running up the front doorpost. AOPA talks about AD 80-04-08 here.
