180 gear legs for a ragwing

Post by russ murri »

Iam looking at a pair of 1956 std 180 legs and would like to know if I need to do an stc or can I do a field approval? Iam also going to have the p-ponk gear box coversion done at same time.

Steve Knopp at Pponk is one of the best experts in the field to ask this question. If you decide to try for a field approval, make certain you discuss it with your FSDO inspector prior to performing the work. They don't like to be surprised with "Hey, look what I've done. Now make it legal, please."

Another source of gear leg wisdom is Tom Anderson of XP Mods. I think he recently moved most of his operation over to Wenatchee. You should give him a call,he's a nice guy & very helpful.
