Flying Down to Rio

Post by GAHorn »

It took a lot of Imagination for the movie-goers of yesteryear to believe this stuff..Heh…?

(and if anyone DID go-along…. I wonder if it ever occurred to Fred Astaire that those girls make HIS dancing appear very AMATUERISH!)

For some reason I thought this was going to be about the book "New York To Buenos Aires in 16 Days", which is a true story involving a 170. But I can't remember if they went through Brazil on their way to Argentina.

I do have a copy in my library of that story. I’ll try to find it (if it wasn’t destroyed when my library suffered water damage during VT convention.)
It’s quite a story including crossing over the Andes.

OMG ,where did you find that movie clip. It wouldn’t be allowed today . The censor would have put that one on the cutting room floor . Plus the occupation and health authority would have stepped in. The FAA would have a field day .While the scenes are fake it could have incited some one to copy .That’s where the fun police would chime . But it was a good laugh.

Also on YouTube. (which is where I posted it from)

I’ve sat up late at night and watched it full length on local TV also.
