Thank you, GAHorn and redacted!
It’s a 1956 170 B with 2640 TTAF, and 1260 SMOH. It has the original 0-300 that had a major overhaul in the 80’s, and a Top end overhaul around the early 2000’s, if I recall correctly.
It has the original paint, and looks original inside. It does have Cleveland double puck brakes, and the P-Ponk Main Gear Bracing Kit (not sure if that’s the correct terminology). It also has a Scott Tailwheel STC.
I’m having a GTX 345 ADS-B transponder and a new Garmin Audio Panel put in, and a fresh annual. The current annual expires in March.
I had been keeping an eye on the various used airplane sites, and found this one listed on the first day it was posted on Barnstormers on Jan 3rd. I contacted the seller that day, and made arrangements to see it the following weekend.
The plane has apparently always been hangared, and has never suffered any damage of any kind. No hail, etc. The paint is original, and she looks super clean inside and out.
It also shows the rear tailwheel spring having been replaced around 80 hours ago.
All logs are complete and meticulously kept from day 1.
It has won a “Best Original 170 Award” and a “People’s Choice Award” in its history, and a story about that was printed in the club’s newsletter in ‘88. I only took a photo of the front page of that newsletter but several copies of that issue are in the plane’s binder of records.
