I rec’d a call from a Member seeking a Land/Taxi light switch for his B-model.
There is an older discussion thread in these forums about sourcing a 2-position landing light switch for our later B-models (and early 172/175 aircraft also). The original PN 0713035 has been superseded to PN S4628-1989 …BOTH of which are no longer available according to Yingling, and Textron/Cessna Tech-Support.
A possible substitute might be a common automotive/marine switch: https://www.amazon.com
Although other mfr’s of such switches might also be accommodating ..the threaded shafts of the switches appear to offer ample room to set the switch deeply to maintain appearance. Also, the knobs are usually threaded on the operating-shaft and the original knob should fit onto the replacement.
Advisory Circular AC 23-27 would support this substitution. https://www.faa.gov/documentLibrary/med ... _23-27.pdf
Hope this helps.

Re: Landing Light Switch
Based on Pete's photo here I think this might be a closer match to the original. Stem has 10-32 threads where original is 8-32 if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Landing Light Switch
Looking at page 103 of the Littelfuse Catalog one can find the Cole Hersee push-pull headlight switches they offer. 7124 requires a 7/16" mounting hole and 7152 requires a 3/8" mounting hole. If you could somehow convince them you were an engineer thinking about buying 10,000 switches for your company's new Jetson Skycar, you might get them to give you a sample or two here.

Re: Landing Light Switch
George,
Can you place a note somewhere in this forum or on the TIC170 site that identifies this Coke Hersee a with as the one to use if folks need a new landing light switch. It should be part of the permanent tribal knowledge for when the old guys like us are dead and gone so the younger guys don’t have to reinvent this wheel.
Thanks,
Pete

Re: Landing Light Switch
Pete, the Forums has more than one discussion on this, and similar topics, where non-traditional and non-aviation sources for substitute parts are referenced. In addition to LittleFuse, Allied Electronics, and others, even NAPA and Tractor Supply have been shown to be useful resources.
I’ll create an appropriate thread in “Mx Library” for TIC170A Members. Thanks for the suggestion.
