Does anyone know where I might be able to find a replacement for the starter button on a C-145?
The spring seems to have collapsed and does not push the button back out anymore. If there is a way to replace that spring that would work but it doesn't look like there is a way to reassemble that part. I have tried Napa but the only button in their book appears to have different dimensions that would place the button closer to the arm that actuates it.
Thanks,
Dan

Dan,
I’m guessing the switch that didn’t match was Delco-Remy p/n 820052. Is that correct? It seems to me - if you could find the appropriate rivet - you could transfer the button/spring assembly from this incorrect aftermarket switch to your old switch assembly for under $20. This guy has switch p/n 1904305 for sale. Hard to tell if that would fit. Here’s a picture of my starter switch. Surely one of us has one in their junk box to sell.

Re: Starter Button Replacement?
Hi,
The second one Gary posted is like mine. The Delco-Remy p/n 820052 in the other picture is like the one I purchased with different dimensions. When installed on the starter the "button" is closer to the arm/bolt that engages it. I might try drilling a second set of mounting holes in the longer switch but not sure it would still connect properly with the contact on the starter.
If I could figure out how to re-do the rivet I would definitely try transferring the button/spring from the new one. I think I will try contacting the supplier that made this particular aftermarket switch to see if they might be willing to sell me a button/spring assembly that has not been riveted yet.
Thanks,
Dan

Re: Starter Button Replacement?
I sent a message to that ebay seller requesting a picture of that switch from the side. It appears that it might be correct. Thanks for that link.

That ebay part was the correct one. One issue down many more to go.
