Starter Cable & Pioneer Compass Light-connector
I am looking for a 1954C170B starter cable. Does anyone have one for sale. Also I need a electrical connector for the back of my Pioneer compass to get the compass light to illuminate>

Re: Starter Cable
Here’s what you want, if you’re seeking a “pull cable” for the original starter: https://www.aircraftspruce.ca/catalog/a ... ey=3012342
Log it as a “minor alteration”.

Re: Starter Cable
I'm replacing the pull starter on my '51 A model with a B&C starter this winter. I'm guessing I might not need this cable any more, but I'm not 100% sure on that yet. Will know in the next few weeks. If you find that an A model cable will work for you, feel free to reach out and I'll look into whether mine is available or not.

Re: Starter Cable
What is the model number of the compass? Does the receptacle look like this or does it have threads? If the receptacle looks like the one pictured, Lance Aircraft Supply sells the connector plug you’re seeking for $45. I wonder if a RCA plug would work … doubt it.From what I’ve read, many of the Bendix/Pioneer compasses use a GE-323 bulb which is a 3V / 0.19A bulb. The C-170 calls for a 10 watt, 60 ohm resistor in the compass light circuit. I don’t think that will work with a GE-323 bulb. Others might “enlighten” us to what resistor would be appropriate.

I added info to your subject-title to include your search for the compass elect-connector. (Just a courtesy, ordinarily only bona-fide Members of the 170 Assoc’n have advertising privileges in these Forums…. all of which SHOULD be placed in the TradeMart section…. so I’ve MOVED it from Pilot Lounge.
