TEXAS, Smithville (84R) Fly-In, Saturday UPDATE April 11, 2026

Post by Karl Towle »

UPDATE DUE TO WX, SAT APRIL 11, 2026 For April, our monthly Fly-in lunch will be on 4 April, at Smithville, Texas, 84R. Please, let's be tied down and ready to leave by 11:00 am.

We'd like to try a new (to that area) restaurant named El Norteño Mexican Grill, 309 Royston, Smithville, Texas. Ken Peck checked it out and found the food very good. He's also agreed to arrange transportation for the 3-minute ride to the restaurant. If you'd heard that El Monarca had closed, it has; this is a new restaurant at the same location.

We are aware this will be Easter weekend. We hope you can still make it on Saturday. If you have family visiting, feel free to bring them; we'll make them feel welcome.

As always, please contact: Karl Towle: karljiml@gmail.com (817) 992-5281 or Leslie Partridge: LRPartridge@cs.com or (512) 619-6091 with any questions

CHANGE OF PLAN! The AcuWeather guessers are currently showing a 95% chance of rain for the 4th with morning thunderstorms. So, we've made the difficult decision to postpone our April fly-in for one week. Let's convene at Smithville, Texas (84R) on April 11; ready to shuttle to the restaurant at 1100. The rest of the plan remains unchanged. Please pray for better weather, and let's try for a large turn-out.

Thanks all,

Karl

With the weather still not cooperating very well, we still had seven members show up for a delicious lunch at El Norteño Mexican Grill in Smithville.

Attendees were: Pete & Judi Coffey, Wendell & Sheila Wyborny, Ken Peck, Chuck & Anna Miller (the Millers managing to arrive by air)

The food was great, and the service friendly.

Again, we encourage everyone able to make it, to join us at our next monthly gathering!
