TX C170 Fly-in August 8th, 2026, Bar VK (T38)

It has been a while, so let's try this again. Nancy and Karl Towle would like to invite all our TIC170A friends to join us on August 8th, 2026, at our home on the Bar VK Air Ranch (TX32) for a lunch fly-in. Instructions for arriving by air, or land can be downloaded here:

Please NOTE, the "Unofficial weather conditions" link mentioned in the Fly/Drive guide is temporarily out of service for maintenance.

We will load into vehicles and drive about 6 miles to Babe's Chicken House in Sanger. https://www.babeschicken.com/our-kitchens/sanger/
So far, to our knowledge, nobody has left this restaurant hungry or dissatisfied.

You're welcome to arrive as early as you want, but let's have everyone gathered ready to load up and go by 11 am. This restaurant gets crowded, and we need to be early if we want to be seated together in their group room.

Please note that we also have a wet runway contingency plan which would shift our fly-in to Denton (DTO) with its concrete runway and paved parking. The above instructions contain a link to check on Friday morning to determine if we need to invoke the wet runway plan. Pray for good weather, and we look forward to seeing everyone here.

Reminder: The Fly-in for Saturday, 8 August, 2026 is still on, as scheduled. Again, let's plan on being in position to shuttle into Sanger for lunch at Babe's, leaving Bar VK at 1100.

Saturday, 8 Aug, 2026 dawned clear, with light winds, promising to be hot. It definitely delivered on the hot, although it topped out at only 100 degrees. A C170 showed up; traveling about 200 feet from Karl's hangar. Chris Yates brought his dad in his C175 from Myrick (33OK) just south of Guthrie, Oklahoma. So, along with those arriving by car, we had a group of nine for lunch at Babes, in Sanger.

As usual, Babes delivered. Everyone enjoyed their food, and the service was prompt and courteous. So far, nobody has left Babes dissatisfied, or still hungry.

After returning from the restaurant, We gathered for a quick photo op in the back yard; then ran back inside where the air conditioning made visiting far more enjoyable. The pictures show the new roof on the Towle house, finally complete after a wind-storm severely damaged our previous roof just two days before our Wilcox, Arizona convention last September.
