crankshaft for O-300C

Post by russfarris »

My friend with the 1960 172 I posted about with the original engine has hit a snag during his rebuild. Aircraft Specialties red-tagged the crankshaft - it has a crack in the main journal (just like mine had a few years ago.) His IA has put him in charge of finding a good one, but Gene doesn't have a lot of experience doing this. One place he called in Trade-a-Plane wanted 9,000 dollars 8O for one! What a jerk...I paid 3,800 for a eight bolt, standard crank yellow tagged by Aircraft Specialties, and it's much harder to come by.

*Anyone* know of a good source for one? Thanks guys, Russ Farris
