Got another question. Being a new 1st time owner I am gaining a huge knowledge curve! 58D came with a set of Schneider 4000 Skis and hardware but no paperwork on installation procedures. 58D never had skis on it before. Does anyone know where I can get the "manual" and also, will I need an STC or 337 for installing Skis? These may seem like simple questions, but I really am new at this ownership thing and am trying to gleam as much info as I can. I did do a search on this website as well as google, but could not find anything. We got 6" of snow last night and am thinking that I may want to get rolling on this project!

These are both ski manufacturers, and may be able to help you with parts, plastic bottoms, bungees, etc.
I have a set of Fly-Lite 3000 skis for my 170 that have not been installed yet. There's a 180hp 170 on skis at Lake Elmo airport, 21D. If you ever come through the Twin Cities, please look me up!

I sure would like to get the opportunity to at least ride in a 170 on ski's sometime. It looks like it would be a hoot! Maybe I can plan a trip to the in-laws in southern Michigan this winter....

Miles- If you ever get the chance to come to Alaska in the winter, will make sure you get to fly a 170 with ski's, stol kits, VG's, long props, 8.50x6 wheels, and gel cell battery's. And you won't even have to get the snow shoes out to pack down a runway, unless you want. Best flying in the world next to floats.

Be careful, you never know when I might just show up....

Corey, my heart skipped a beat when that picture popped up! I thought it was an "oh $%(!" picture until I took a closer look. Careful with pictures like that, there are quite a few old 170 lovers on this forum.
