I agree with you Miles. I think Permatex is great stuff for things designed to be permanent/near-permanently afixed. (Especially like the non-hardening formulas.) I wonder if the Loctite isn't actually being used as a release-agent and the Permatex as a sealing agent. Either way, I think you are doing the right thing to follow TCM's instructions.

You're right George. Hylomar manufactured by Hylomar Ltd in the UK is definitely not same as current day auto store blue RTV. If I recall correctly, Hylomar was developed for use in gas/diesel engine assembly. The TCM rep explained at length the stresses involved between the case halves and the catastrophic failures which have resulted from improper compounds being used in conjunction with proper torquing procedures. He also stated to not use Hylomar but follow the bulletin. That satisfied me.

Miles I was wondering if your Titan cylinders came with a 337 for each cylinder? I just put 3 on my engine and they had a 337 included with each cylinder for a modification done after the cylinders were STCed. My mechanic says he has never seen this done before and I was wondering if any one else has seen this. My mechanic does not think our FSDO here will accept this way of doing things. Bill K

Item 5, Figure 1, Part # 2025 Plug, Dryseal Pipe Countersunk hed, 3/8 NPTF QTY 2.

Miles these are common pipe plugs with a allen wrench head made out of brass. They came supplied to me from my crank case overhauler. I'd check a well supplied hardware store before I ordered just them.

OH, NOOOOOO! MILES!!!! NOOOO! You've made a SERIOUS mistake. You accidentally mis-read the individual cylinder part numbers on the base of the cylinder and installed an them in the wrong sequence!! You've gotta take it back off and re-assemble everything...

Yeah. Imagine this,... if you have the number facing "fwd" on the left side....won't they be facing "aft" on the other (assuming the same orientation in each cylinder is identical?) :lol:

Gee, I sure hope the piston rings know all this. I'd hate for them to rotate about the piston. Sure hope they get stuck in position early! :wink:
