I have purchased a set of Whelen 650 wingtip strobes. The paperwork does not include the C170B (1952) on the STC. Is it OK to install them?
If so, what paperwork would I need to complete? gerry

A650 strobes
Another question. Does the wire from the wingtip to the powerpack (located aft of the baggage compartment) go in front of the wing spar?
Wireing
On my 170A the wire leading to the wingtip lights runs in front of the main spar through some holes placed in the ribs for that purpose. You can use the wing tip light wires to pull the stobe wire through. When my stobes were added we also replaced the wireing to the wing tip lights and the landing lights with the newer mil-spec materials.
Re: Strobe lights
The A650 wingtip strobes (so-called "piggy-back") are approved for the 170 series via STC800EA. The FAA website states the following:OTIS wrote:I have purchased a set of Whelen 650 wingtip strobes. The paperwork does not include the C170B (1952) on the STC. Is it OK to install them?

Routing the wiring through the leading edge is the easiest way.
