vortex generators on 120/140

Post by russ murri »

I am interested in any info about vortex generators on 120/140 preferable boundry layer ,but if you used micro dynamics I'am still interested in the results. If it was worth it ? What gains did you get? I went to the 120/140 web site and boy do they need to see the 170 site and take lots of notes... The only 140 around here does not have them on it. I'am in the process of installing them on my ragwing, with a little luck. Russ

My father-in-law has them on his 140 and would be glad to tell you all about them. He flies all over the Idaho backcountry and truly uses the 140 as a bush plane. It is pretty impressive with a 135 hp lyc.

His name is Jerry Highland. 509.466.3431

I read the article Jerry wrote for the 120/140 Club newsletter- "A Mountain 140". I was interested in maybe buying something like it & wrote him asking more about the airplane, and if he knew of anything similar for sale. He telephoned me & we had a good long talk. He's a real nice guy.
I did end up finding a 290-powered 140 for sale in Nampa Idaho--the owner had bought an IO-360 powered 170A! .Went out to look at it,a test flight left me unimpressed so I decided to stick with the 170. Hard to beat!
