Movies
I do not recall the name of the movie and I have only seen it once. Baiscly it was about how Stinson L5's won the Korean War and How the Leading actors fought over one of there wives in Japan. Great shots of L5's flying though.
Does any one know the name of this movie?

Some of the more expensive DVD players may handle both, but your television won't. You need NTSC. PAL has a different number of screen lines, a different scan rate, etc. Completely incompatible with TV sets in the US.Dward wrote:Dave Clark, High Road to China is my favorite. I saw it offered on ebay in a foreign type format, PAL I think. Maybe the newer DVD players will handle this?

The Blue Max, The Great Waldo Pepper, Bat 21, Air America, Bridge At Toko-ri, Birds Of Prey (for the helo buff, great flying, sucky plot), Blue Thunder (also for the helo buff), Rocketeer (some flying scenes with vintage race plane replicas), Midway, Tora, Tora, Tora!, Baa Baa, Black Sheep (the movie and series had some great Corsair footage), Memphis Bell... I'll think of a few more later.
I just bought Fly Boys, but haven't watched it yet.

Well, I could be wrong about the planes, but they sure look like Beavers and Otters. Maybe Stinsons? The movie was made in 1941, starring Jack LaRue, Austin Willis, Rochelle Hudson & Frank Perry. In any case, it is a really neat movie about bush flying.blueldr wrote:bsdunek,
If "Bush Pilot" was a '40s movie, the airplanes were sure as hell not Beavers and Otters. Those are both post WWII designs.
Two others - "Atlantic Flight, made in 1937, featuring a Lockheed Electra making a transatlantic mercy flight, and "Murder in the Clouds", made in 1934. Great biplane shots and flying. All available through Amazon.com
