How do I remove the wings

Hi everyone,
I have purchased N1888C (a '53 170B) a few months back and have discovered that it needs alot more work than I originally figured. It is my fault for not looking it over more closely when I saw it the first time.
Anyway, ... I am having trouble getting to the flap cable in the wing in order to take the wing off to inspect the carrythrough spar.
Does anyone have a method for getting the straight slot screw and nut disassembled?
I will also be replacing some corroded gear bulkheads with the PPonk parts eventually (as soon as I can talk the wife into letting me buy the parts).
But in the meantime, if someone could help out a dummy like me and tell me the best method of removing the flap cables (the trailing cable behind the rear spar), I would be greatful.

Why? As a new owner you've come to the right spot. But before you tear into it, explore all options. Most the maintenance on your aircraft like removing the wings is relatively easy especially when you utilize this website. The best method of extracting information is to give as much information regarding the problem/facts then give some thought to the responses. Start by acquiring a maintenance manual and Illustrated parts manual(IPC) for a reference to identify the area to others. Then sit back, crack a cold one while you wait for the answers.

Yes Ian the parts manual specially. That way you could say "Does anyone have a method for getting the straight slot screw (part #) and nut (part#) disassembled?

Because while I've removed and reinstalled A model wings which might have a similar part or process required, i have no idea what slotted screw and nut your talking about.

There are threads here that will tell you all about how to get a parts (IPC) and maintenance manual.

It is the subject of the third thread under the last sticky in the Maintenance Library. The thread is "Free Cessna Manuals on line." As it is already listed on the first page in the library and the thread name pretty well says it all, making it a sticky would do little to make it more prominent.
