Water-based latex is a method that old tail numbers are painted upon new paint jobs, prior to the final approval of the vanity-registration numbers being rec'd. Then when the FAA finally gets your vanity approval to you in writing, simply wash the water-based paint off. The same thing could be used for Int'l flights. It's the same kind of stuff that kids paint on cars at football games and wedding guests use on honeymoon get-away cars.

Eric,

I flew that 170 of Dan's to Texas for the previous owner when he bought it outta Durango, CO. I had to put a generator on it and cowl it up to fly it home. Most of the instrument were in a box in the co-pilot's seat including the Altimeter and others, it was an interesting 500 mile trip home. Then I used it as my Parts running airplane while I was a mechanic for the charter group that was also owned buy the previous owner of the 170. After a while the owner got tired of polishing and put it up for sale. I called Dan and talked him into buying it. He stepped up from a T-craft and never looked back. He and I are still good friends and I'm trying to get him to fly the 170 up next summer. You should help me egg him on so we can do some three ship exploring. Its amazing how nice Dan has made that airplane since it was my Parts Runner. Way to Go, Dan!! Now it is time to take it to the Northwest and share it with people who haven't seen it.
